Safety Onboard

With the holiday weekend kicking off the boating season for many boaters, it's a good time to review safety on your boat. Practice a man over board drill to refresh your crews memory on what the procedures are. Make sure your fire extinguishers are in working order and up to date. Have you ever thought about what you would do if a fire broke out on your boat? Do you know where your thru hulls are? Are your plugs ready? And lastly, are your flares handy and are they current as far as the date of expiration goes? Take a look at this video and see if you are ready to rescue your first mate should they go over the side. Let's have a great season on the water and a safe one too! YachtPals has a great article on this topic.

Boating is a great experience and for some a way of life. This is an excellent reminder that safety needs to remain in the front of our minds so that we can spend many seasons on the water.
