How The SF Bay Was Formed

Many times out sailing the bay with friends, I will get asked about the geology of the Bay. Many of our hills and valleys are formed by the massive tectonic plates the surround the Bay Area. However, a large portion of the area was influenced by the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the rivers flowing from the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
